Description

A hearty baked ziti dish featuring meatballs without ricotta cheese, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, mix cooked ziti, marinara sauce, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Transfer the ziti mixture to a greased baking dish. Nestle the meatballs on top of the ziti.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan and shredded mozzarella cheese over the dish.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • Add chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish.
  • For a spicier version, include red pepper flakes in the meatball mixture.
