Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well blended.
  3. Add the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fill each donut cavity in the pan about halfway with batter.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, dip the tops of the donuts in salted caramel sauce to coat.

Notes

  • For a spiced variation, add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the dry ingredients.
  • You can use a piping bag to fill the donut pan for a neater application.
  • For presentation, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the donuts before serving.
