  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for cookie layer

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for cookie layer
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour for cookie layer
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda for cookie layer
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt for cookie layer
  • 2 cups chocolate chips for cookie layer

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for the brownie layer until smooth.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips for the brownie layer.
  7. In another bowl, repeat the creaming process with the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for the cookie layer.
  8. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  9. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt for the cookie layer. Gradually combine with the wet mixture, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  10. Spread the brownie batter into the prepared pan, followed by the cookie batter on top.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  12. Let cool in the pan before cutting into bars.
