Cabbage rolls filled with seasoned meat and rice, baked in a savory tomato sauce.

- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves for 2-3 minutes until pliable.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion, garlic, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Place a generous spoonful of the filling in the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
- In a baking dish, mix tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread a thin layer in the bottom of the dish.
- Arrange the cabbage rolls seam side down in the dish. Pour remaining sauce over the rolls.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For variation, try using ground turkey or pork.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or dill before serving.
- Serve with a side of sour cream for added richness.
