- 500g all-purpose flour
- 75g granulated sugar
- 10g salt
- 10g instant yeast
- 250ml warm milk
- 2 large eggs
- 250g unsalted butter, softened
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk and eggs. Mix until combined.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Incorporate softened butter gradually until fully absorbed.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1 cm thick.
- Sprinkle the chopped chocolate evenly over the dough.
- Fold the dough into thirds, like a letter, and roll it out again.
- Cut the dough into triangles and roll each triangle into a cruffin shape.
- Place cruffins in a muffin tin and let them proof for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Brush the cruffins with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- Experiment with different fillings such as hazelnut spread or fruit preserves.
- For a glossy finish, brush with syrup after baking.
