Description

Delicious cinnamon buns made with active dry yeast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture to the well. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While baking, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the frosting.
  12. Spread frosting over the warm buns before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure your yeast is fresh for best results.
  • You can add nuts or raisins for variation.
