Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar

- 1/4 cup ice water
- 4 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter and mix until crumbly.
- Stir in ice water until the mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In another bowl, combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface and fit into a pie pan. Fill with apple mixture.
- Roll out remaining dough for the top crust. Cut slits for steam and place over the filling.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.

- For a richer flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for contrast.
