Description

A classic hamburger recipe with a gourmet twist for dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently.
  3. Form the mixture into four equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each.
  4. Grill the patties for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  5. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom bun.
  8. Layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, and the cheese-topped beef patty.
  9. Add ketchup and mustard as desired, then top with the other half of the bun.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 160°F for medium.
  • Experiment with different cheeses such as blue cheese or pepper jack for varied flavors.
  • Consider adding pickles or avocado for extra toppings.
