- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently.
- Form the mixture into four equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each.
- Grill the patties for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom bun.
- Layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, and the cheese-topped beef patty.
- Add ketchup and mustard as desired, then top with the other half of the bun.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 160°F for medium.
- Experiment with different cheeses such as blue cheese or pepper jack for varied flavors.
- Consider adding pickles or avocado for extra toppings.
