Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Fresh berries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering.
- Remove from heat and add chopped dark chocolate, stirring until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled, pour the chocolate ganache over the top.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before slicing.
- Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh berries before serving.
Notes
- For a mint variation, add peppermint extract to the ganache.
- Use different types of chocolate for varied flavors.
- Consider serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for contrast.
