Ingredients

  • 3 lbs of whole turkey
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups of bread crumbs
  • 1 cup of chopped onions
  • 1 cup of chopped celery
  • 2 tsp of dried sage
  • 1 tsp of dried thyme
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups of assorted vegetables (carrots, Brussels sprouts, and green beans)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs, onions, celery, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Melt half of the butter and add to the bread mixture. Stir in chicken broth until moist.
  4. Stuff the turkey with the bread mixture and truss the legs.
  5. Rub the remaining butter over the turkey and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a pan and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  7. During the last hour, add assorted vegetables around the turkey.
  8. Check the turkey’s internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
