- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Remove from heat and gradually mix in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan until melted and smooth.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni. Mix thoroughly.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and sprinkle over the macaroni mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

- For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper.
