Description

Classic Italian pizza with a thin crust and fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone inside.
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide into two equal portions.
  8. Roll out one portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  9. Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  11. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, followed by fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan.
  12. Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone in the oven.
  13. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  14. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Experiment with different toppings like prosciutto or arugula.
  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
