Description

Delicious lasagna casserole with layers of ricotta cheese and meat sauce.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix well.
  6. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Layer 3 noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, then half of the meat sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
  8. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.

  • Variations can include adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
  • For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper to the meat sauce.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving for added flavor and presentation.
