Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, cream, maple syrup, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil and continue to cook without stirring until it reaches the soft-ball stage (234°F to 240°F).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  5. Let the mixture cool slightly, then beat with a wooden spoon until it thickens and loses its gloss.
  6. Pour into a greased 9×9 inch pan and smooth the top.
  7. Let it cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes
