Description

A classic Italian dish featuring pasta tossed in a rich tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 800g canned tomatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 50ml olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a large pot and add salt.
  2. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  4. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  5. Add canned tomatoes, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Drain spaghetti and add to the sauce. Toss to combine.
  7. Plate the pasta and garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
