Ingredients

- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup mixed nuts, chopped (walnuts, pecans, almonds)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
- Add cubed butter and mix until crumbly.
- Stir in egg yolk and cold water until dough forms.
- Press dough into a tart pan and chill for 30 minutes.
- Bake the crust for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and butter.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Increase heat and boil for 5 minutes without stirring.
- Remove from heat and carefully stir in heavy cream, vanilla, and salt.
- Fold in chopped nuts.
- Pour caramel mixture into baked tart shell.
- Let it cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate variation, add cocoa powder to the crust.
- Serve with whipped cream or chocolate sauce for garnish.
- Use a mix of nuts for a varied texture and flavor.
