Description
Oven fried chicken with a crispy coating and juicy interior.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs, bone-in, skin-on
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- In another bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour, pressing to adhere.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once hot, add chicken skin-side down and sear until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
- Turn chicken over and transfer skillet to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken by returning it to the buttermilk and then the flour again.
- Experiment with different spices in the flour mixture for varied flavors.
- Serve with a side of coleslaw or a fresh salad.
