- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 4 ounces pepper jack cheese, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your skillet over medium heat.
- Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer pepper jack cheese between two slices of bread, mayonnaise side out.
- Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich.
- Sprinkle garlic and onion powder on the buttered sides.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Remove from the skillet and let it rest for a minute.
- Cut in half and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

- For added flavor, consider using a mix of cheeses.
- Experiment with different types of bread.
- Try adding sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
