  • Author: Julia marin
  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 skulls 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Pizza Skulls are a fun and creative twist on traditional pizza, shaped like skulls for a spooky presentation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use a skull-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
  7. On half of the skull shapes, spread pizza sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and sprinkle with Parmesan and oregano.
  8. Top with the remaining skull shapes and seal the edges by pressing down with a fork.
  9. Transfer to a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For vegetarian options, omit pepperoni and add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
  • Try different cheeses such as cheddar or gouda for varied flavor.
  • Serve with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
