Ingredients

- 400g pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 800g canned tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add canned tomatoes and sugar, season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce.
- Plate the dish, garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, add red pepper flakes.
- Substitute fresh tomatoes for canned for a fresher taste.
- Use whole wheat pasta for more fiber.
