Description

A classic pasta dish with a rich tomato sauce and fresh basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 800g canned tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add canned tomatoes and sugar, season with salt and pepper.
  6. Simmer the sauce for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce.
  8. Plate the dish, garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, add red pepper flakes.
  • Substitute fresh tomatoes for canned for a fresher taste.
  • Use whole wheat pasta for more fiber.
