- 1 cup arborio rice
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine rice, milk, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and mixture is creamy.
- Stir in vanilla extract and butter until well combined.
- If using, add raisins and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Variations: Add nutmeg or cardamom for extra flavor.
- For a vegan version, substitute milk with almond or coconut milk.
- Garnish with fresh fruit or whipped cream for plating.
