Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and green bell pepper. Cook until softened.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and mustard. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat.
  5. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  6. Place one slice, buttered side down, on the skillet. Layer with cheese and sloppy joe mixture.
  7. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
  8. Grill until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted.
