Ingredients

- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Drain and let the potatoes cool slightly.
- Mash the potatoes until smooth, then mix in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
- Form the mixture into small cylinders or balls.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the tots in batches until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, mix in grated cheese or herbs.
- These can be baked instead of fried for a healthier option.
- Serve with dipping sauces like ranch or ketchup.
