Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of thick bread (Brioche or Challah)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Fresh fruit for topping (optional)
- Maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture on two slices of bread and top with the other two slices to form sandwiches.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter to coat the surface.
- Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
- Cook sandwiches in the skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Serve warm, topped with fresh fruit and maple syrup.
Notes
- For a savory version, consider adding cooked bacon or ham between the bread slices.
- Experiment with different fillings such as Nutella or fruit preserves.
- Use a non-stick skillet for easier flipping.
