- 1 pound sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups custard, prepared
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 cups heavy cream, whipped
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh mint for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the custard and allow it to cool completely.
- Whip the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- In a trifle dish, layer half of the sponge cake cubes on the bottom.
- Add half of the custard over the sponge layer.
- Layer half of the mixed berries on top of the custard.
- Spread half of the whipped cream over the berries.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Finish with a generous layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves.

- For added flavor, consider soaking the sponge cake in fruit juice or liqueur.
- Use seasonal fruits for variation in taste and presentation.
- For a chocolate twist, add cocoa powder to the custard.
