Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and mix until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in diced apples and walnuts if using.
  7. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
  8. Shape dough into balls and roll in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  9. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are golden.
  11. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
