Description
A hearty dish made with black eyed peas and ham.
Ingredients

- 1 cup black eyed peas
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Rinse black eyed peas and soak them overnight.
- Drain and add peas to a pot with water.
- Add ham, onion, garlic, black pepper, salt, and bay leaf.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
- Remove bay leaf before serving.
Notes
- This dish pairs well with cornbread.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
