A simple recipe to cook dry black eyed peas.
Ingredients

- 1 cup dry black eyed peas
- 4 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Rinse the black eyed peas under cold water.
- In a pot, combine peas and water. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour until tender.
- Add onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Soaking peas overnight can reduce cooking time.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Can be served as a side dish or added to salads.
