A classic gingerbread recipe for the holiday season.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Let cool before decorating.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Decorate with icing and candies if desired.
- Dough can be refrigerated for up to a week.
