Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Royal icing for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
- Knead the dough until smooth and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
- Place the shapes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Let them cool before decorating with royal icing.

- Chill the dough to make it easier to handle.

- Store in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
