Description
A delicious and decorative gingerbread house roof made with spiced gingerbread and royal icing.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1/4 cup water (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Roll out dough and cut out roof shapes.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until firm.
- Let the pieces cool completely.
- Mix powdered sugar and water to make royal icing.
- Decorate the roof pieces with icing.
Notes
- Ensure the dough is chilled before rolling for easier handling.
- You can use additional candies for decoration.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
