  • 4 cups powdered sugar (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter mixture.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Roll out dough and cut out roof shapes.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until firm.
  8. Let the pieces cool completely.
  9. Mix powdered sugar and water to make royal icing.
  10. Decorate the roof pieces with icing.
