Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a loaf pan.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar together.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  6. Stir in molasses and hot water.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool before slicing.
