Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 cup jam or preserves for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light.
  4. Add molasses to the butter mixture and combine well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll dough into small balls and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Make an indentation in each ball with your thumb.
  9. Fill the indentation with jam.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
