A festive gingerbread house inspired by the Grinch.
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
- Green food coloring
- Assorted candies for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and cut into house shapes.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until firm.
- Let cool completely before decorating.
- Mix powdered sugar with water to create icing.
- Add green food coloring to the icing.
- Use icing to assemble the house and decorate with candies.
Notes
- Store the gingerbread house in a cool, dry place.
- You can add extra frosting for more decorations.
- Let the house sit for a few hours for the icing to set.
