- 1 cup black-eyed peas, soaked overnight
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Drain and rinse the soaked black-eyed peas.
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cook for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes soften.
- Add black-eyed peas and mix well.
- Add water as needed, cover, and cook until peas are tender.
- Stir in garam masala and cook for another minute.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
Notes
- Soaking the peas overnight helps in cooking them faster.
- Adjust spice levels according to your taste.
