- 1 teaspoon baking soda

- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add egg, molasses, and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Roll the dough into balls and flatten them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are firm.
- Let cookies cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing.
- Decorate the cooled cookies with icing and food coloring if desired.
