  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and flatten them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are firm.
  8. Let cookies cool completely.
  9. In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing.
  10. Decorate the cooled cookies with icing and food coloring if desired.
