Easy recipe for black-eyed peas cooked in an Instant Pot without soaking.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound black-eyed peas
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse the black-eyed peas under cold water.
  2. Turn on the Instant Pot and select the sauté function.
  3. Add olive oil, onion, and garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent.
  4. Add the rinsed black-eyed peas, water, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  5. Close the lid and set the valve to sealing.
  6. Select manual pressure cook and set for 25 minutes.
  7. When cooking is done, allow natural release for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  8. Open the lid and stir the peas. Serve warm.

  • Adjust spices to taste.
