A classic recipe for snickerdoodle cookies that are soft and chewy.
Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
- Form dough into balls, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place on baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Let cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container.
- For a stronger cinnamon flavor, increase the amount of cinnamon in the rolling mixture.
