A simple recipe for making royal icing roses for decoration.
Ingredients

- 3 egg whites
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Beat the egg whites in a bowl until frothy.
- Add cream of tartar and mix well.
- Gradually add powdered sugar while mixing until the icing forms stiff peaks.
- Add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Transfer icing to piping bags and pipe roses on parchment paper.
- Let the roses dry for at least 24 hours before using.
Notes
- Store leftover icing in an airtight container.
- Use food coloring to tint the icing if desired.
- Practice piping on a practice board if you are new to piping.
