Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar for apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. In a separate bowl, toss apples with sugar, lemon juice, and nutmeg.
  7. Spread half of the cookie dough in a pie pan.
  8. Add the apple mixture on top of the cookie base.
  9. Crumble the remaining cookie dough on top.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Let the pie cool before serving.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for extra flavor.
